beneath the snow, there was a wonderful world -
wonderful now because it seemed so unfamiliar,
strange shapes in a foreign landscape.we were children then, and we took risks,
a group of boys asserting their courage -
like sledding down the hill and across the frozen pond,
the ice at the bottom cracking a little more each time.
each trip was a new experiment,
a short quixotic journey with an inevitable end.
we were children then.

on a personal note, i've finally finished the process of applying to law schools. now, the waiting and crossing-of-the-fingers has begun. i'm hopeful that i have done enough to make myself competitive at every school to which i've applied. we'll see how that works out in the end.
