i crane my neck to see into the crevasse, hands white from holding the edge for so long. the sun upon me like a vulture, pints of sweat, reddened skin, body never so strong, but now hardened.in the depth, the deafened darkness, one forgets the sun's unforgiving light; and i'm not a believer in heaven, but in the sky above the tree line, i swear i saw it once or twice.
